چکیده

The virulence factor of bacteria such as P. aeruginosa causes severe problems affecting human health and environmental quality. In this study, Piper betle undergoes an extraction process yielding extract to diminish the aeruginosa. efficiency treatment on was measured using Pyoverdine assay. different factors affected yield leaves a solvent ratio (1:6 1:10), method (maceration sonication) solvents (methanol, ethanol, ethyl acetate hexane) were tested. assay illustrates exhibits lowest peak (OD630 = 0.2320) compared methanol, ethanol hexane due presence bioactive compound reducing factor. 1:10 has higher 4.53±0.05 g 1:6 yields 2.86±0.05 extracts because better contact area. Maceration with agitation indicated highest 0.5210±0.05 followed by maceration without at 0.2660±0.05 0.2792±0.05 for sonication. showed is 0.4741±0.05 2.4975±0.05 g, 3.7658±0.05 methanol 6.3331±0.05 polarity. This study aims provide insightful knowledge applied ability antivirulence antibacterial agent against

Piper betle extracts exhibit antitumor activity by augmenting antioxidant potential

The present study was conducted to evaluate the methanolic extract of Piper betle leaves (MPBL) and its organic fractions with regard to antitumor activity against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) in Swiss albino mice and to confirm their antioxidant activities. At 24 h post-intraperitoneal inoculation of tumor cells into mice, extracts were administered at 25, 50 and 100 mg/kg body weight for n...

Antimalarial activity of methanolic leaf extract of Piper betle L.

The need for new compounds active against malaria parasites is made more urgent by the rapid spread of drug-resistance to available antimalarial drugs. The crude methanol extract of Piper betle leaves (50-400 mg/kg) was investigated for its antimalarial activity against Plasmodium berghei (NK65) during early and established infections. The phytochemical and antioxidant potentials of the crude e...

Alkaloids from Piper nigrum and Piper betle

An investigation, on the roots of Piper nigrum and the aerial parts of Piper betle, has yielded several alkaloids. The dried root sample of Piper nigrum was extracted using various solvents in increasing polarity. The dried aerial part of Piper betle was extracted using the Soxhlet extraction method. The alkaloids isolated were pellitorine(1), (E)-1-[3’,4’(Methylenedioxy)cinnamoyl]piperidine(2)...

Two new sphingolipids from the leaves of Piper betle L.

Two new sphingolipids, pipercerebrosides A (1) and B (2), were isolated from the leaves of Piper betle L. Their structures, including absolute configurations, were determined by spectroscopic analysis and chemical degradation. These two compounds did not show significant cytotoxic activity against the cancer cell lines K562 and HL-60 in a MTT assay.

Comparative Morphoanatomy of Piper betle L. cultivars in India

The study presents comparative morpho-anatomical information of 10 common cultivars of Piper betle species available in India. The ten cultivars show some structural similarities. Four layered upper and two layered lower epidermis was observed in all the varities of P. betle studied. Crystals and oil reserves were found in the epidermal cells. The Kapoori Tuni variety has more stomatal and tric...
